How does the gauge calibration work?
Each time you fill up, take a photo of your fuel gauge before fueling and record how many gallons it took to fill the tank. Over a few fill-ups, the app builds a library of gauge photos for that vehicle, each tagged with the gallons needed to fill from that level.
Why is my estimate off?
Fuel gauges are not linear, so accuracy improves as you add more readings across the range of the gauge. If an estimate seems wrong, add a reading near that gauge level the next time you fill up. You can also select two photos that bracket your current needle and use the slider to interpolate between them.
What is the pre-pay buffer?
The buffer adds a small cushion (+$1, +$2, +$3, or +5%) on top of the estimate so that a pump which rolls a few cents past your number doesn’t shut off before the tank is full. It’s optional — set it to None for an exact estimate.
How do I move my data to a new phone?
If you’re signed into iCloud, your vehicles and readings sync automatically to any device signed into the same iCloud account. You can also use Backup & Restore (in the garage menu) to export your whole garage to a file and import it on another device — this also works between iPhone and Android.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. All data is stored on your device. An internet connection is only used for optional iCloud sync.
My iCloud sync isn’t working.
Make sure you’re signed into iCloud on the device and that iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings. If you’re not signed into iCloud, the app still works fully — it just keeps data local to that device.
