GearRatio (the “app”) measures your vehicle’s rear axle (final drive) ratio, and computes the gear-ratio setting to enter on a DynoJet 224xLC chassis dyno, using your phone’s GPS speed and a tachometer reading you tap in. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches.

The short version

GearRatio reads your GPS location while you have the app open, only to compute your current road speed. The app has no accounts, no networking, no analytics, and no cloud sync. Nothing the app reads or stores ever leaves your device.

Data the app uses

• GPS location — used only while the app is in the foreground, only to read your speed at the moment you capture a reading. The app does not log, persist, transmit, or share your position. Coordinates are not stored on disk; only the live speed is shown on screen and used in the ratio calculation.
• Your settings — tire size, transmission ratio, target RPM, the chosen mode (axle ratio or DynoJet), and speed unit (MPH or KM/H). Saved locally in the app’s private storage so your inputs persist between sessions.
• Captured readings — the RPM and GPS speed of each reading you take are held in memory during your session so the app can compute and average the ratio. They are not uploaded anywhere.

All of the above stays on your device in the app’s private storage. The app does not collect analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, contacts, photos, or any other information.

Permissions the app requests

• Location (While Using the App) — required, because the ratio is derived from your GPS road speed. The app requests foreground (“when in use”) access only; it never asks for background or “always” location.

Third parties

The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and makes no network requests of any kind. Location is read from the device’s own location services and processed entirely on-device.

Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated.
