RaceCarLogBook (the “app”) is a personal offline logbook for amateur racing drivers — a record of the cars you race, the events you enter, the sessions you turn, your lap times, and your driver resume. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches.

The short version

Everything you enter and every photo you take stays on your device. The app has no servers. It does not sign you in, does not sync to a cloud, and does not phone home. The only way data leaves your device is if you choose to export a backup file or share a PDF report.

Data the app stores on your device

• Cars — year, make, model, number, class, notes, and an optional photo of each car you add.
• Tracks — name, location, country.
• Events — dates, organisation (NASA, SCCA, VSCDA, etc.), track, class, and free-text notes.
• Sessions — session type (Practice, Qualifying, Qualifying Race, Race, Time Trial, Test Day, Track Day, Other), date, configuration, weather, track and ambient temperatures, grid position, finishing result, structured DNS/DNF/DQ outcome, race winner, free-text notes, pre-race checklist items, and lap times entered by stopwatch or by hand.
• Driver profile — the name, address, and home country you type into the profile screen, an optional driver headshot, and the racing licences you add (organisation, licence number, type, expiration date, and an optional photo of each licence).
• Settings — on-device preferences such as whether Time Trials count on your resume and toward your personal best lap records.

All of the above is stored locally on your device, in the app’s private sandbox. The app does not collect analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, or any other information about you or your device.

Where the data is stored

• iOS: the structured data lives in a single racecarlogbook.json file inside the app’s Application Support directory. Photos are saved as JPEG files in the app’s Documents directory. The app does not use iCloud, CloudKit, or any other sync service — your data does not leave the device unless you export a backup.
• Android: the same JSON file lives in the app’s private internal storage, with photos saved as JPEG files alongside it. The app does not use Google Drive, Google Play Games, Firebase, or any other sync or analytics service.

Permissions the app requests

• Camera — only used when you tap a “Camera” button to take a photo of a car, a session detail (results board, setup sheet, podium), a racing licence, or your driver headshot. The app does not record video, does not access the camera in the background, and does not upload camera images anywhere.
• Photo library — only used when you tap a “Library” button to choose an existing photo. The app reads only the single image you pick.

The app does not request location, microphone, contacts, calendar, notifications, network state, or any other permission.

Backup files and PDF reports

The app includes a Backup & Restore screen that exports your entire garage — cars, events, sessions, lap times, tracks, your driver profile, and all referenced photos — to a single JSON file. It also generates PDF reports: a Driver Resume, a Full Race History, and a per-event Lap Timing Sheet. In every case, the file is written to a temporary location on your device and handed to your operating system’s share sheet. The destination of that file (Files app, AirDrop, email, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) is your choice. The app itself does not upload backup files or reports anywhere.

Third parties

The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking SDKs. It contains no embedded web views that load remote content, no fonts loaded from the network, and no remote configuration. The app has no network code of its own.

Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated.
