TachoSpeed (the “app”) is a standalone GPS tachometer and speedometer for vehicles whose speedometer doesn’t work but whose tachometer does — classic cars, restorations, and the like. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches.

The short version

TachoSpeed reads your GPS location while you have the app open in order to compute your current speed and derive your engine RPM from a single calibration point you logged once. The app has no accounts, no networking, no analytics, and no cloud sync. Nothing the app reads or stores ever leaves your device.

Data the app uses

• GPS location — used only while the app is in the foreground, only to read your speed. The app does not log, persist, transmit, or share your position. Coordinates are not stored on disk; only the live speed is shown on screen.
• Your calibration — the single reference RPM, reference speed, gear label, and date you logged once during calibration. Saved locally in the app’s private storage so the tachometer can derive RPM from GPS speed.
• Settings — your chosen speed unit (MPH or KM/H), tachometer dial maximum and redline RPM, and a flag recording that you’ve seen the one-time safety notice.

All of the above is stored locally on your device in the app’s private sandbox. The app does not collect analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, contacts, photos, or any other information.

Permissions the app requests

• Location (When In Use) — required, because the entire app is built around GPS speed. The app requests when-in-use authorization only; it never asks for “always” access and does not use location in the background.

Third parties

The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and makes no network requests of any kind. Location data is read from the on-device Core Location framework and processed entirely on-device.

Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated.
