About the Founder
Skunk River Restorations was founded by Steve Myers, a lifelong Ames resident and second-generation British-car collector who left a web-design career to open the shop on December 12, 2011. Profiled by the Des Moines Register’s Juice magazine in 2010 under the headline “My whole life is cars,” Steve is a Bonneville land-speed record holder, a vintage racer, the creator of the This Week With Cars YouTube channel, and the developer of the LastDrive family of apps for collectors — all built around the same idea the shop was: keeping interesting old vehicles on the road.
