Coffee truck brings two businesses together
Team to bring coffee truck to metro in November

AMES, Iowa —Coffee will be rolling across the Metro area as an Ames coffee buff and a car buff work together to bring a coffee truck to the road.

“It’s something I thought I would have a lot of fun working on,” said Steve Myers of Skunk River Restoration.

Myers’ team has been laboring on a 1958 Grumman Olson for eight months. They got the truck from a New Jersey junkyard. It had been used as a moving truck in Martha’s Vineyard.

Now it will be stopping at staple locations in Ames and Des Moines, brewing coffee with latte art — designs such as hearts and rosettes made from the coffee froth.

“When people see that heart in their drink, they smile and you know that’s the main focus is making someone’s day,” said Jordan Burgason of Burgie’s Coffee.

Andrew and Jordan Burgason of Burgie’s Coffee said they want to keep up with what they said is a rapidly changing market.

“Our goal was to deliver coffee in a different platform than it had been delivered before,” said Andrew Burgason.

Myers said he thought it was neat to bring the two companies together. He said his company was up for the challenge.

“Any system that is on it needed upgraded, the wiring, the breaks, the engine, the suspension, the paint,” Myers said.

The team expects to have the truck on the streets in early November.
